To answer your question...

No, Malachy had no birthday party! I feel so ashamed! He did a get a BIG truck from Daddy and I took him to the build a bear workshop on Sunday. He also got a movie and neat coloring thing from Aunt Lauren (and Uncle Noah). But it was a crazy weekend. I work and Mark was still in Russia. So we will have to celebrate more officialy later. Not with more presents neccisarily but with cake and people singing and all. We are most likely going to Iowa this weekend so I was thinking the following weekend. However I think Crystal has plans that weekend and a party isn't a party without Crystal so we may just never celebrate....or wait another week. =) Hmmmm....Mark's Birthday is November 5th (I think) so I may just have to have a double b-day party without Crystal. Agghhhh...so much to do!

Also just so ya'll know... Mark is home! =) He had a great time in Russia he says it was the hardest thing he ever did. But I know it was also extremely rewarding and he learned a lot. I will post pictures eventually...I hope!

Malachy has 3 halloween costumes! One is a hand me down spiderman from the Bonsols. That is his favorite! He wears it around the house and to bed often. The others are Batman and Superman! Any opinions on which he should wear for the big day?

Nice, Steph. I would like to point out that even I knew that Mark's birthday was on the 6th.

Costume: Personally, I dig Batman but that may only be because I hear "Batman" and think of Val Kilmer and George Clooney (sorry, Michael Keaton or whoever isn't on my "hottie list"). However, if the kid loves Spiderman there is nothing wrong with following in Tobey McGuire's footsteps. Being only 2, if he doesn't like the costume, he may pull it off halfway through the night and then you're stuck explaining why your kid is naked wearing only a Superman cape.

I was going to say Batman because the movies are cooler (i.e. the Michael Keaton one). But then my crazy head started to think more of the movies. Batman was a total player. But Superman was monogamous and I really dig that! AND I really liked the whole Jesus thing that was suggested in the new Superman movie. AND I totally cried when he found out he had a son. But really I don't know that much about either Batman or Superman. And Spider man is cool too, dang I forgot about him! He's a one woman guy too! OY VEY, I don't know????? I just don't know???

What does Mark say??? He's a guy he should know which one is the best super hero!

I like dads plan. Let us all vote. I would just like to see him in everyone of those costumes. Maybe he could go trick or treating 3 times then we could split the take. Mal could keep us all in candy for months. By the way is there sill some of last years candy on your kitchen counter? Never mind one trip around the block will do. When do the kids go T&T anyway? Mal is only two so when he grows up he won't remember how we all paid no mind to his Bday but you will never get over it so we should do something about it. It doesn't take much for you to feel like you are not living up to your mommy job. You are a great mom by the way. Don't always be so hard on yourself. He is a lucky guy to have a mom who will read him not one but three books every night. I was always so spread out with so many little ones I thought one book was to much. I hope to see our little spiderbat soon.

Steffy (<-- hee, hee... like your Dad calls you that is SO adorable!!) my old boss from NV gave me the best advice for birthday parties.

She said, when they get older and are in school they want these illaborate birthday parties to invite all their friends too, so she has been keeping the early birthdays from when he was young (1's, 2's, 3's & 4's) to just herself and a small amount of family, so she wouldn't be tired of throwing parties by the time he can choose what he wants to do.

She wanted to spend these birthdays alone with him, before it changes and it's more about the planning, throwing and cleaning up of birthday, than what the actual day means.

I wouldn't feel bad at all, because I think it's special when they are little and you get to spend time with them on their special day. I wouldn't think a party would change that for anything. Don't stress!!!
